What herbs will grow in one pot or hanging basket? Lucklily, most culinary herbs do very well grown together in containers. Most herbs of Mediterranean origin such as Thyme, Oregano, Marjoram and Sage are suitable to grow together in one container. They share a love of the sun, require a basic soil mix and prefer dryer conditions. Moisture loving herbs such as Basil, Coriander, Parsley and Tarragon can also be grouped together, these herbs will benefit from the addition of compost to the soil mix. Consider the height of the plants when selecting your herb combinations, and if possible, include some trailing herbs to cascade over the sides of the baskets or containers. One example of this is Curled Parsley, Chives and Oregano below.
